Dame Margaret Natalie Smith, DBE (Ilford, 28 de dezembro, 1934), mais conhecida como Maggie Smith, é uma premiada atriz britânica, nascida na Inglaterra.
Biografia
Maggie Smith pisou nos palcos pela primeira vez pela Universidade de Oxford em 1952[1], e fez sua estréia profissional em Nova Iorque, na New Faces 1956 Revue. Juntou-se à Old Vic Company em 1959, e começou a colecionar prêmios, incluindo o de melhor atriz de 1962 do Evening Standard, por seus papéis como Doreen em The Private Ear e Belinda em The Public Eye.
Juntou-se ao National Theatre em 1963, interpretando Desdêmona, junto com Laurence Olivier, em Otelo, e foi de sucesso em sucesso com Black Comedy, Miss Julie, The Country Wife, The Beaux Stratagem e Muito Barulho por Nada.
Contudo, foi em 1969, com sua interpretação em A Primavera de uma Solteirona, que se tornou conhecida do grande público. Esta atuação lhe rendeu um Oscar e um prêmio da Society of Film TV Arts de melhor atriz.
